<p>Ok 1/ A lot of people have been talking about this place is since it has opened, in 2011. But I haven&#8217;t read so many comments in English, so the post may be a little bit useful.</p>
<p>2/I usually don&#8217;t promote restaurants serving breakfasts in Paris, because in Paris my walks outside in the morning, after giving my daughter to her child minder, are for a simple coffee. And also because it is hard to find a good honest breakfast for an affordable price. And you know, in France, 9 persons out of 10 eat breakfast at home.</p>
<p>3/And about brunches, (which, it has to be mentioned, are a different concept in France than in the UK, because in the UK people would also have lunch after their brunch), yes so about brunches in Paris, there is more knowledgeable people than me <a href="http://www.oubruncher.com/" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
<p>The following place is the best place I know for having an excellent breakfast in Paris and not too expensive as well.</p>
<p>Not only the food is excellent, but also the quiet atmosphere and the staff.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#888888;">Ok 1/ Beaucoup de gens ont déjà parlé de Claus, l&#8217;épicerie du petit-déjeuner, ouverte depuis 2011. Mais comme je n&#8217;ai pas vu beaucoup de posts en anglais à son sujet, cela peut servir d&#8217;en avoir un pour les English speaking people of Paris ainsi qu&#8217;un nouveau point de vue pour les French speakers !<br />
</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#888888;">2/ Je fais peu la promotion des petit-déjeuner à l&#8217;extérieur, à Paris, car lorsque je sors le matin après avoir déposé ma fille chez la nounou, c’est un café seul que je prends. Et j&#8217;ai l&#8217;impression que c’est à peu près le cas de beaucoup de monde. Dans les stats, en France, 1 personne sur 10 seulement petit-déjeune à l&#8217;extérieur de son foyer.<br />
</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#888888;">3/ Et à propos des brunchs, (je n&#8217;ai pas les stats) (et mentionnons qu&#8217;en France, un brunch équivaut à un petit-déjeuner + un déjeuner, tandis qu&#8217;au Royaume-Uni le brunch n&#8217;empêche pas de déjeuner par la suite), il y a des gens beaucoup plus connaisseurs que moi <a href="http://www.oubruncher.com/" target="_blank">sur le sujet</a>.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#888888;">Claus, pour moi, est l&#8217;endroit rêvé pour prendre un petit-déjeuner excellent, varié, pas donné mais pas trop cher non plus, dans une atmosphère feutrée, au centre de Paris.</span></p>

<p>The signature muesli, a bit too banana flavoured for me, but all in all, very good.</p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Le muesli spécial de Claus, préparé la veille. Le goût de banane est un peu trop marqué à mon goût, mais c&#8217;est tout de même très bon.</span></p>

<p>(yes I am an egg fan. I&#8217;d like to add that I am not a glutounous glouton, it is not as bad as you may think, scrambled and half cooked eggs have been eaten during 2 different visits to Claus!)</p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Et pour terminer, l’œuf à la coque, parfaitement cuit.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">(oui je suis fan d’œufs. J&#8217;aimerais préciser que je ne suis pas une gloutonneuse gloutonne, mon cas n&#8217;est pas aussi désespéré qu&#8217;il en a l&#8217;air, ces différents plats d&#8217;oeufs ayant été mangés lors de 2 occasions différentes !)</span></p>

<p>In Madrid, I would recommend to eat chocolate y churros there. Although San Gines chocolateria is situated a minute away from the crowdy plaza de Mayor, it is a peaceful place (at least in the morning during weekdays!).</p>

<p><span style="color:#888888;">À Madrid, je recommanderais de déguster ici même un chocolat chaud avec des churros. Bien que la chocolaterie San Gines soit située à une minute de la bruyante Plaza de Mayor,  il s&#8217;agit d&#8217;un endroit tranquille (du moins le matin en semaine !).</span></p>

<p>Yep, it is famous, but not for nothing. Waitresses/waiters were nice and chocolate + churros + porras were = succulents.</p>
<p>I did not know about porras. They are like bigger churros. I would say that the recipe is the same, but if any of you has more knowledge about churros/porras, that would be great.</p>
<p>Actually, Porras make me think of <a href="http://breakfast-project.com/2009/09/05/breakfast-in-ha-noi/" target="_blank">these things</a>: fried preparation that you eat with the Vietnamese Pho soup.</p>
<p>Chocolate and churros are a breakfast and also something to eat after a good partying night.</p>
<p>San Gines is opened 24/24.</p>

<p>Ah also, you can spend some time recognizing the famous people (Tina Turner for example <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  ) who have been to San Gines before. This place is endless joy, I am telling you !</p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Oui, l&#8217;endroit est connu, mais pas pour rien, les serveuses et serveurs sont très sympas et surtout les chocolat chaud + churros + porras sont = succulents.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Je ne connaissais pas les porras. Ils ressemblent à des churros en plus gros. Je dirais que la recette est la même, mais si quelqu&#8217;un a plus d&#8217;infos à ce sujet, partagez partagez !</span></p>

<p>To make it you need bread cut in slices (baguette or any other white flour bread), a bowl of milk and 3-4 eggs mixed in another bowl, oil for deep frying + about 150 g sugar and water :</p>
<p>- Soak bread in milk</p>
<p>- Cover bread dunking it in the egg mix</p>
<p>- Deep fry in a frying pan</p>
<p>- Meanwhile, make a &#8220;coulis&#8221; : 1 dose of sugar + 1,5 dose of water in a pan. Cook until the sugar is melted and the preparation is boiling, but not until it transforms into caramel (= it should remain transparent).</p>
<p>- Pour the coulis on the bread pieces and let dry for a few minutes before serving.</p>
<p>Result: inside, the bread is melty. Outside, it is hard and sweet. Globally, it is delicously irresistible.</p>
<p>You make 25, you eat 25. Within a few hours.</p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Khobz Mokli signifie en tunisien, &#8220;pain frit&#8221;. C&#8217;est le nom de ce que prépare Mohamed pourles petits-déjeuner du week-end.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Du pain perdu tunisien ? Peut-être ! Bien que Meriem, la femme de Mohamed, n&#8217;avait jamais entendu parler de cette recette avant qu&#8217;elle rencontre Mohamed, et bien que je ne trouve aucun exemple d&#8217;une telle recette sur le Web. </span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">En fait, cette recette a une histoire particulière pour Mohamed : </span></p>

<p><span style="color:#888888;">Pour réaliser cette recette, vous aurez besoin de pain coupé en tranches (baguette ou tout autre type de pain blanc), d&#8217;un bol de lait, de 3-4 œufs battus dans un second bol,  d&#8217;huile pour frire + environ 150 g de sucre et un peu d&#8217;eau :</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">- Tremper le pain dans le lait</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">- Recouvrir le pain du mélange d’œufs </span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">- Frire dans une poêle</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">- Pendant ce temps, préparer le coulis : 1 dose de sucre + 1,5 dose d&#8217;eau dans une casserole. Faire chauffer. Le mélange doit bouillir mais doit rester transparent (on ne fait pas un caramel, quoi).</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">- Verser le coulis sur les morceaux de pain et laisser refroidir un peu avant de servir.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Résultat : le pain est très moelleux dedans et dur et sucré à l&#8217;extérieur. Globalement, c&#8217;est irrésistiblement bon.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Vous en faites 25, vous en mangez 25. en l&#8217;espace de quelques heures.</span></p>

<p>No description for this breakfast, although some elements seem to be quite similar to <a href="http://breakfast-project.com/2012/12/04/breakfast-near-pergame-turkey/">this other breakfast</a> + the flat bread. Hmmm, I love flat bread.</p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Voici un nouveau petit-déjeuner pris par Marie, mon amie qui a voyagé en Iran et en Turquie il n&#8217;y a pas longtemps.</span></p>

<p>Near the Buttes Chaumont parc,</p>
<p>On a bright winter morning,</p>
<p>My cousin has made a pretty and good breakfast for us!</p>
<p>Earl grey tea, coffee, baguette (bread), cake with candied fruits, semi-salted butter, jam and a 1/2 &#8220;viennoise baguette&#8221; (it is like a brioche made of baguette ingredients + milk and butter) I had brought from my baker.</p>

<p><span style="color:#888888;">Lors d&#8217;un début de journée d&#8217;hiver ensoleillé</span></p>

<p>I can only add this tip: don&#8217;t add too much flour, it is normal if the dough sticks to your fingers!</p>
<p>Voila, make them and you will taste something unique: a warm and melting type of brioche.</p>
<p>The idea of scones came from when I went to a Tea Room in Glasgow (Bradfords, &#8220;a Scottish tradition, since 1924&#8243;) for a quick breakfast:</p>

<p><span style="color:#808080;">Voilà, réalisez-les et vous goûterez quelque chose d&#8217;unique : un nouveau type de brioche chaude et fondante.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:left;">This is a place where we always see a bunch of very old people speaking a very high-class English while having a cuppa (a cup of tea).</p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#888888;">C&#8217;est un endroit où l&#8217;on voit à chaque fois un groupe de personnes très âgées boire un thé (&#8220;a cuppa&#8221; en écossais) tout en discutant dans un anglais très high-class.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;">The carpet reflects the atmosphere there.</p>

<p>For me, the olive oil, for dunking bread or for cooking an omelette, has been the core ingredient of the breakfasts I have had in Morocco.</p>
<p><span style="color:#888888;">Voici le petit-déjeuner de Mohamed. Nous avons du pain, de l&#8217;huile d&#8217;olive pour le tremper, du jus d&#8217;orange et du café.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><span style="color:#888888;">Pour moi, l&#8217;huile d&#8217;olive, qu&#8217;elle ait été utilisée pour tremper le pain ou pour cuire une omelette, reste l&#8217;ingrédient fort des petits déjeuners que j&#8217;ai mangés au Maroc.</span></p>
